A solemn oath can neither be retracted nor rescinded. That's the f'ing point. When you swear to God to act it's binding. Failing to act or decinding a course of action is incovenient abrogates nothing. God can supercede one contract with a perfected contract, but then he's God and you're not.

Your word is your bond

Your sacred oath of commitment is not to be entered into lightly. Repetative affirmation of a course of action and calling God as a witness is quite serious. It's doubly serious when your promise to act is on a matter of great gravity.
